Thank you Steven, I've become the proud owner of a freebie iveco hoist and trying to find out more info etc.

Translation: I rescued it from the scrap, I'm praying it doesn't need an MOT cuz it'll never pass!:lol:

LOLER should include some inspection of the vehicle chassis etc, I presume? That might account for it too.

Well it's in the garage now having a few bits tinkered with. Best keep my fingers crossed.

Can I ask who you all insure your van mewps with please?

We used to have one which was over 3.5 tonnes it was registered as special types or mobile plant so no mot, this is not always a good thing as problems tend to build up mechanically rather than be dealt with.

Your 6 monthly loller inspection will look at the chassis subframe and superstructure and safety of boom etc but not general carrier vehicle condition in my experience.

We now operate a 27 m truck mount on a 3.5 ton nissan chassis cab, were insured with the NFU ,it's a special so your broker would have to speak to the underwriters ,were paying around £900 a year but the machine is 2 years old and cost around £100k new.:thumbup1:
