Hi,

I am a forester, UK national, working in Burma. I have been working here in Burma since January this year. We have amazing native forests that are so beautiful. Its not just the forests though that are beautiful. Its how the forests play a part in the everyday lives of the people and animals that also depend on them. I was wondering if people in the UK would like me to organise a trip so you too could see them. Regards. Neil

This thread is worthless without pics! Welcome Neil.

What's your role as a forester out there? Are they hot on sustainable forestry or is illegal logging a problem?

My outlaws have recently done a guided, slightly off the beaten track, trip to the country and reported favourably of the forests.

I gather that the Chinese are probably the greatest threat, especially in the north, as the country has huge mineral wealth - underground of course. And we all know how much countries care about the environment of other countries when there's wealth to be dug out of them for their own benefit.

Yes, pics might be nice! but i want to know how one might also go about getting a job there. I'm a British national working in Germany as a climber, and myself and my considerably better half are thinking of moving to asia, Myanmar/Burma being a choice. Would be great to have another option of work other than teaching english. How do you go about it?
