h to be a student... not!

In light of your previous occupations, I assumed you were a perpetual student Jules:001_tt2:

but sincerely empathise with your sentiment, having spent since 6AM trying to come to terms with the parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence:001_rolleyes:

But back on track.... use it or lose it folks:thumbup1:

Every day's a school day, and I dread the day that isn't. Can you imagine going to bed without having realised, learnt or worked something out that day?

I was up at 5am! Learning to play Jerusalem Ridge on the mandolin, but that kind of counts as studying.

Anyway, when I moved from surveying to trees and had to study formally again it was hard, very hard. I don't think I could go through what you're doing. Not at my age....

If I go to see Herr Mattheck it will be for entertainment value, won't take a single note.

If you didn't attend you missed out.

Claus has a very unique style of lecturing, covering most of the information in the books. He's really funny but gets the idea across succinctly. His description of unproductive branches, those that aren't photosynthesizing to be self-supporting, as "lazy ba****ds" isn't one that I've often seen in other academic works, but is one I'll remember.

I'd honestly recommend everyone to try to see him when they can. It may be a lot of money but I personally learnt so much, and clarified so much of his work in my mind, that it was worth it. I'd go again without a second thought.

His new books hopefully out this autumn, it's being translated now. Looking through the German edition it will be a 'must have' for the arb book collection.

Thanks to Mick and Helen, & the other lady whose name escaped me for organizing it
