281 chain n file

Hi. What size file for our 281xp with 24 inch bar? Also What size chain when it's time to replace. Maybe a serial number for the oregan make, if poss. Thanks a lot.

Chisel will cut faster but blunt quicker. Better for chopping clean wood.

Semi chisel cuts slower but retains an edge better so better for dirty wood.

If it's stihl it's 5.2mm

Every one is assuming its a 3/8 chain . The OP has not said as such . Could be a .404 ?

It does say A2 on chain. Googled it. And it's a Carlton chain looks like 3/8 then.
