Buying some new climbing irons and have been considering buying the distel aluminium ones with the velcro fastenings. How do people rate the velcro attachments? are they prone to coming loose? Do they stay secure or do you constantly have to re do them? or dose the velcro ware away with time and use?

Cheers in advance for any advice. :001_smile:

The velcro works fine, very comfy and not comign loose in my experience. The alu spikes are well made, the carbon fibre ones are good but have some build quality issues.

Cheers for the reply rupe, was a little unsure about the velcro as ive only used standard spikes before. Think i'll give them a go as i do like the idea of the velcro being comfy. :thumbup1:

Danny, ditto what Rupe just said.

I was worried the velcro wouldn't even be safe, let alone comfy!

Needless to say it's both. Phew!

Carbon Geckos here, year old next month and minimal signs of wear. A big tip for other users - take the bloody things off when you are on the ground! They last much longer this way. Most people in Canterbury High Street don't really care if you are a tree climber or not!

cheers mark, the idea of them coming loose was bothering me. I like to put spikes on really tight, just gives me that bit more confidence. I hate it when spikes are set too loose and begin to slip.

Buying some new climbing irons

surely if you're buying aluminium ones they become climbing aluminiums not irons:001_tt2:
