I passed my class 1 in 1983 and haven't driven a Hgv for 15 years . Last year I turned 50 and had to have a medical to keep my licence does this mean if I don't this now I will loose my licence or can I do it if and when I need to drive. More and more legislation and cost

You didn't need a medical to keep your licence but you do need it for the category to remain valid. You can take a medical and get the category back at any time.

Same goes for CPC, you don't loose the category but as a commercial driver you need it to work.

at £390 inc vat for the 5 days cpc training its not worth all the arguing with the old bill etc and then you can deliver what you want without having to think will i gwt pulled today !!!

Don't forget to factor in the wages and lost earning during that training, if you have 3 staff who can drive it can add up.

That's right but with doing mine on a saturday at least its not quite so bad and better than the fine

Well that's not better that's worse, my Saturdays are worth more to me and if you are paying staff to do the training its going to cost more than a week day.
