You guys reckon a 550 will run an 18" bar ok without much power loss? Wondered if anyone knew before having to fork out for a bigger saw

HI HODGE so my 560 it FLYS so i now can see a 550 coming on thanks jon

Run mine on an 18 regularly and it is impressive. However, if i needed an 18" bar all day everyday I'd consider a 560 or preferably a 372xp. The 550xp runs with a 15" like it was made for it.

[ATTACH]151125[/ATTACH] I picked up my new 550 yesterday from my local dealer who did me a good price as me and Luke bought 1 each. This morning we set the auto tune and have put a tank through and we are very impressed, cutting through these beech limbs like butter. Starts first time when switched off and when left for 10 mins. I will keep posting my findings so fingers crossed it is better than my 550 was:)

Well I can join the 550 club as of today! Seems a nice saw and certainly packs a punch. Got three weeks of river coppicing coming up so should be ideal for that being lieghweight to use allday yet enough poke to go through some of the bigger stuff.
