Hi Steve if I had to pull a saw 29 times to GET it to FIRE I would send it back to the dealers thanks Jon

Hi Jon, yeah must say I was a bit miffed, but it did start fine following the first run. Will be interesting to see if it starts okay when I use it again... I've not used it for a couple weeks.

Would cost me £'s in postage if I had to send it back to fR Jones, so would rather wait & see how it goes.

Cheers, Steve

Hi,

I have a mower that is a b****r to start, however if the choke is set not quite all the way to full it starts fine, but there dosn't seem to be simialr fine adjustment for choke on my saws, its almost on/off.

That said have you tried a spray of easy start in the air intake as repeated attempts to start may wear pull cord etc?

Our ancient Merry Tiller started second pull yesterday with a spray of start pilot in the air filter for its first run this year.

Just a thought.

Nice pic of your dogs Jon :D

Hi Jon,

Cant quite justify a 660 as well, my 365 running a 20" bar does fine, but I'd love a 550 with a Sugi bar as replacement for my 250 although its quite nice now its on a 14" bar (18" bar in the avatar pic)

:D

Hi mate, it's a brand new saw so there is no reason to be spraying easy start! It only took 29 pulls on the very first start (without easy start!) and has started in 2 or 3 pulls since then.

Be very wary of using easy start regularly as it won't do your engine any good :thumbup1:

Cheers, Steve

OK, I thought it was taking 29 or so pulls every time, agree use easy start sparingly but sometimes it helps.

I picked up my new 550 yesterday from my local dealer who did me a good price as me and Luke bought 1 each. This morning we set the auto tune and have put a tank through and we are very impressed, cutting through these beech limbs like butter. Starts first time when switched off and when left for 10 mins. I will keep posting my findings so fingers crossed it is better than my 550 was:)
