To be honest, I would have a look online and get a second hand 200t or one of the older saws, as for the cheaper ones, I personally wouldn't bother. When it comes to big climbs, it just won't last.

It would be an ideal back up saw, I'd give one ago because I'm an optimist haha

They are only a pruning saw and they do struggle with bigger limbs hence i binned the horrendous low kickback chain they came with and fitted a STIHL chain which made a dramatic change, bear in mind a STIHL ms150TC has more power than the MTDs.

I wouldn't buy a saw until you have climbed. Alot of people change their mind. And you need to be good at positioning before you use a saw.

 

And husky t540 nothing else compares.

Bear in mind there is a special level of anger and a complete accompanying vocabulary for top handles which don't start and run right when your in an uncomfortable cutting position mid job......

If I was in your shoes I'd save a little more money and buy the Stihl 150 on a ten inch bar. It's cheep, it's a a professional saw, a few months down the line you can buy a bigger top handle (husky t540 is the best but that's another topic) and your 150 will still be of use to you for smaller jobs and more delicate prunes. I've used the 150 on some pretty big take downs and it's coped, wouldn't be my tool of choice but it certainly took on the challenge!

Me too I bought a cheap one for a one off. It has an Oregon chain and 12" bar and it cuts 10" Birch with no problem. It might struggle with harder wood but it did the job I got it for.
