Pre 97 equivalent HGV test

Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a licence to drive a 5.3t (gross) truck with 750kg chipper? About time I upgraded.

A "C1" licence would do and 750kg tlr/chipper Ok without the added "E"

The equivalent-ish to ancient people's allowances (I have trouble calling them rights...) is C1. That allows you to drive a vehicle up to 7500kg plus a trailer up to 750kgs.

I would (and did) Get C instead: same test, same cost, same training but allows you to drive vehicles without weight restrictions, so as big as a rigid can be (28t ???)

32 tonnes. I would agree about going straight to C, unless you're under 21.

Yeah go straight to class C then you're good for everything up to 8 wheelers. If you do don't worry about missing gears on the first day you'll be used to by the end of the second day
