Hi chaps.

Currently living in Central Bedfordshire working self employed as a groundy/climber but looking to get myself a milling rig this year. I have no idea where to start with which mill/saw and although the info in this thread has been useful, nothing beats practical experience so I was hoping to find someone who might be operating close to me (Beds/Herts/Bucks?) who I could offer my services to help out if you are doing any milling in return for seeing milling process and any info or experience you could share about saws and mills. Weekends are really the only time as I've got a lot booked in the weeks with a local firm.

Thanks in advance

I'm a bit further away (just under an hour) but I mostly mill at weekends. I won't be doing any of my own next weekend, but will be doing so the weekend after next if it's any good to you.

I have some big oaks to mill (in situ, alaskan+ms880) in Bedfordshire (near Thurleigh).

But... I can only be there on weekdays.

Thanks for reply, if any weekdays pop up my end, I'll drop you a PM and see if you are about

i just bought an 084 that i want to use for milling. if you get the mill we can use my saw to see how easy it is.

be nice to actually use the thing, it's just sitting there at the moment.

Out of interest, how big a bar do you think the 084, will cope with for milling.

60inch at a push 72 but would not want to use one on much more than a 52inch bar for a long time
