If a group of us purchase a New Forwarder trailer/crane 11tonne trailer, costing say £25,000, how much an hour or 8hr Day should we be charging to hire it,with 120 hp4wd tractor and operator, or trailer/ crane alone, as trailer/crane would be purchased with its own independent PTO powered hydraulic system . Thanks in advance for any input from your good selves.

Roundwood extraction imo should be on volume / tonnage rate and that's that. How you do it; with a wheelbarrow or helicopter is irrelevant except where ground conditions dictate.

Agreed, its bought on that basis, sold on that basis and should be cut and extracted on that basis.

Moving it by road could be classed as haulage if its someone elses timber ?

Is this for a machinery ring, like farmers share equipment but for forestry? There must be some standard agreements available for this sort of thing. NFU??

I'd start with 1% of its capital value per week IF you get 50% utilisation, more if it stands idle longer.

I ask the question, as I am in the process of applying for FFIS Grant funding for a forwarder/crane and I am trying to put together some figures together, to justify the cost it. So freely admit I am a NEW BOY to timber extraction, I can not be more honest than that. Thanks

I take it for that kind of money the trailer is 4wd? so i guess you could be able to charge a premium

problem is in the hire market not all will want to pay a premium for 4wd
