The only cons I can think of are the price and potential to clip into the stitches instead of one leg of the snake anchor. However, you would have to be a right plonker to do that..

I was a snake owner for 2 months and just did not like it.

Sold mine. Personally I was very disappointed and not what I expected from ART

The snake anchor is a great piece of equipment. It encourages people to set up base anchors properly and makes it super easy to put a lowering device on there. I didnt see the price as a problem. The only negative i had with mine was loosing it. Dont know why it is taking me so long to replace it.

We still regularly use our 5m one as primary base anchor after 6 months.

 

Not yet managed to clip into between the stiches.

 

The design gives us confidence in the event of a shock loading (anchor point failure) situation. (however unlikely that would occur)
