Funny but serious by all accounts!!

Never heard of people saying that about DbRT ever, not once in all my time in treework.

There is obvious issues with SRTWP with the base tie off, even the strongest proponents of SRT for work positioning recognise this, but never in all my days have I heard of people assuming that a DbRT is cut proof because you work with 2 legs of the same rope in front of you.

I honestly think you must be picking these people up wrong Adam. Either that or the people you are discussing SRT/DbRT with have never climbed and have no knowledge of climbing which if that is indeed the case then their opinions are worthless and not open for consideration.

Tim I really am sorry and I didn't believe this the first time either but I've heard countless story's and heard it direct myself!! It's crazy I know but I'm not making it up lol :)

Perhaps this is something that's simply lost in translation. I doubt you would find many people who could claim that the first time they climbed SRT wasn't a little bit disconcerting due to only seeing one rope in front of you after previously being used to 2. This feeling is likely enough to put some people off the system right from the get go, which in turn leads to the sort of comments that Adam is hearing....if that makes sense

It's obviously got to be safer with 2 ropes in front of you, hasn't it? Unless someone creeps up on you with some blunt scissors .

NO

It is still only one rope! This is the exact issue adam is talking about. Steve is spot on with his comment about what people are used to. Sure having one leg of line in front of you is unnerving for the first climb or two. However, it is no safer or more dangerous. Hit your line without a secondary anchor, single or doubled rope, you are still screwed.

in fairness adam, I've heard it a number of times and only from people that haven't tried SRT or are wanting to voice an idea of why they haven't tried it. Base Anchors are safe as long as its pointed out. Its new and people love to speculate about stuff they've not tried, good, bad or quickly thought. I have spoken to a few assessor's at shows around the country who wanted to see how it worked compared to DRT
