Japanese quality or chinese c**p even in spark plugs, you cannot even to begin to understand why they skimp on plugs for a few pence

I could not agree more, the chinese plugs are not the best, but the QJ19LM is a Champion. And to be quite honest I am not too keen on them either.

A few Sunday hours put in for the first time this year to try to keep up. Serviced both of these 16 year old machines, including doing the head gasket and valve clearances on the Hayter.

It always amazes me that the importers of chinese made garden machinery do no spec an NGK plug instead of a homemade lookalike. If nothing else it would stop many returns of machines for a refund

Yep, that's a 30" single blade.

Reliable and enough mower, but a flaming awful thing to climb on and off of due to the very high transmission tunnel and narrow gap twixt the deck lever and the tunnel.

Apart from what Barrie said which I agree with my first thought on pulling the 'Champion' plug was that it looked fishy. I thought it was a fake - something about the lettering didn't look quite right. Apparently there are plenty of fake NGKs on eeebay.
