Hi,

Never bought in cords before. So apologies if its a silly question - how many builder's bags would you expect to get from 40 ton bought as cord wood?

Depends on bag size, but say it will double up.

I only sell my arb arisings and so never need to buy in timber . Just as well as it sounds so unprofitable .

Same as anything thesa days you got to be in toit in a big way with the right kit to make any money. There are guys in Herefordshire making a very tidy living doing between 500 800 ton. I am not up near those figures but do make enough to reinvest and live hopefully next season will be the one that starts paying back.

It's deffo a expensive setup cost to do it right. I've now got the toys just need plenty of wood on stock and plenty of customers and things should be ok good luck to all fellow loggers

depends on the type and when felled to some degree but most seem to work on 2/3 CUBIC meters of logs per ton =- an average builders bag ranges just above 1/2 cube.

correct me if i am in error - those of a more learned persuasion.
