Which rigging kit ?

personally id get a bollard, 200ft of rigging line i use 16mm and a medium cast block, swing cheek block, rigging plate and a load of crab, slings and a couple of deadeye slings

All depends on your usual work.....Don't want to be dumping massive loads through a small portawrap etc. Second what Ian said. A set up like that will be enough for most situations

Are the kits worth it or best off buying separate as Ian has said ?

if you buy separate you can get a kit that suits your needs.

I like the look of the ART bollards, or the Buckingham porta wrap. At a push the Stein bollard is good. All out then a GRCS type device.

 

60m of something like Yale polydyne or Samson nystron, 14-16mm big fan of those lines as they have a nice bit of give. Teufelburger do a nice line the Sirius which is well priced last time I looked but feels pretty static, not a problem if your groundie knows how to let it run.

 

3 steel biners the ISC big dans are popular.

 

Kong make nice slings which are heavy duty enough for most rigging.

 

ISC snatch blocks good blocks at a fair price, DMM for bling and high qaulity.

 

And dead eye slings as a rule of thumb you want something meatier than your rigging line for the block as it will be subject to higher loads so 18mm or higher.

 

Personally not a fan of whoppies and loopies.

 

That'll cover most rigging jobs big and small.

As above Stine rc 2001 would do most of your stuff but a rc3001 would do all, much easier for inexperienced groundys to use than a flying capstan.

Get the basic stuff and add to it as you go or as your jobs become more complicated get stuff to do that job, also as you get more experienced you'll get more adventurous and add more systems to make the job easier for you and your staff.

Good slings are the way forward, sod all that not tying every time except on big stuff.

Best you can afford, have a look on any of the site sponsors Web pages and you will find what you need, iv started to use a few bigger ring slings as they are strong and grip well and the outer cover seems to make them last well, the sort used on crane's.
