ebay aren't selling the saw, it's somebody called usedjeepparts. If you look at the fuel caps they are never quite right on the Chinese fakes and the choke is different as well.

 

You are right about the Chinese copies (mainly of the 365) - but the one in question isn't even a copy, just a total scam by misrepresenting a totally different product. It also is a much smaller saw than a 395xp.

 

Different degrees of scams (if that exists).

 

Hopefully someone have reported the scam to Ebay - I don't find a way to do it?

Would it be an idea to have a sticky for the chainsaws forum "how to spot a fake or copy"?

 

with all the salient points - or would it enable the Chinese to make them even closer to the real item?

The Chinese could make an exact copy of any saw but they make what the customer orders. The people selling these saws are not Chinese they are money grabbing shysters trying to get top money for minimum outlay exploiting gullible customers.
