wd40 is a de-greaser

"lubricant, penetrating oil and water-displacing spray"

I must have it wrong then.

I use it on saws that have been rained on, before putting them away.

It stops them rusting, which is nice.

"Overpriced snake oil in a can" would be more fitting

OK I admit I buy the cheap stuff from boot sales, £1.50 a tin, £12/case.

Spray oil stuff, generic term "WD40"

But not actually WD40?

There's a big difference between WD40 and something such as GT-85.

Yes I am sure there are.

At the moment I am using

Penetrates and lubricates, also Silicone free, which is important if you do paint spraying.

£1 a tin works for me, even has PTFE like GT-85, how much is GT-85 for a 500ml tin?

The man is correct. WD means "Water Displacement" and 40 means "40th attempt at getting the formula right". The stuff works for me.

There's nothing wrong with WD 40 or Duck oil, I used it for years because we got it free from factory stores but now I'm retired I just get whatever is cheap.
