545/555 versus 550/560

I brought a 545 in September - I think for a general purpose Arb saw, the semi pro Huskys (545, 555, 365 etc) are better than the XP version as they're more suited to logging up, being used by several users etc.

Whereas the XP saws are much more forestry orientated, I'm sure if you're felling softwoods all day RevBoost is lovely, however I personally wouldn't want it as my saw is used just as much for logging up as it is for felling.

Only my opinion though :001_smile:

Reckon the 550 + 560XPs are meant for all day felling and snedding. Whereas the 545 is less suited to all day work. The 555 has more oomph but why lug that much weight, when you could be carrying a 560XP?

Apart from lacking the 'Rev Boost' of the XPs, the others can't be bought with heated handles.

Depends what you intend to do with the saw and how often you're going to do it. Felling everyday in softwood or regular thinning - get the XPs. More occasional work and or ringing-up 300mm - get the 555. Occasional cutting and coppice - get the 545.

You said it better than I did!

On paper they are almost identical except for power and the 545/555 lacking rev boost. I'm guessing that they cannot be tuned (easily) because of autotune. Are the cheaper saws worth it or would they be a disappointment

There are a sizable difference in power output as well, and there are good reasons for it - wider transfers etc. on the xp saws.
