About to set up on my own and have been looking at costing for advertisement.

Been thinking about Yellow pages and there online sites, local service guides in my area and obviously a well designed sign written truck.

I know a lot of you will say word of mouth, but could do with some opinions on what to not waste money on.

Thanks:001_smile:

The only paid advertising we do now is the local free paper which works quite well, I used to advertise in yellow pages and yell.com but they're a waste of money in my opinion, also look at free advertising such as gumtree, facebook, twitter, sign written truck (almost free), etc. We also do a few leaflets when we're finishing a job, just the street we are working in.

My pick up and would you believe my orange jacket I had printed up for just casual wear. The amount of people who stop me or tap me on the shoulder and ask for a card or just put the number in there phone. I for get until they ring and say remember me I stop'd you in tesco etc. works for me. And get lots from my pick up aswell.

We pay quite a bit to advertise in the local paper, but get very little from it, but just keep it there as one job could pay for the years advert. Sign writing on trucks, a couple of leaflets around where your working, word of mouth and just generally being nice to people when your in work clothes or vehicle has always worked best. A few years back I stopped to help a broken down car on a horrible night, towed him back to his house a few miles away with the landy, and it lead to a massive six figure contract for us now. You never know where your next job will come from!
