Stihl ms 460

Hi all new to this forum,I have a stihl ms460 which has never given any trouble until lately.The problem is when using the saw it dies as if you hit the kill switch starts again straight away.This problem could happen 3 times a day and not appear for a week or two.I have checked all wires and everything seems ok any suggestions welcome.Thanks in advance John.

Two simple things to check, flywheel to ignition coil gap and also the gauze filter in the carb - try those two things:thumbup:

Thanks for the reply meant to mention i had reset coil gap,will check gauze in carb.

If the gauze filter were blocked, I cant see it being OK again for weeks.

 

I reckon its got to be a kill switch fault, or a short in the wires to the switch from the coil.

 

Maybe its flexing due to a sloppy AV or two.

Hi all removed carburettor and put it in my brothers ultrasonic cleaner reassembled and have used nearly a tank of petrol so far so good.Saw also seems a lot easier to start .As an aside chain oil delivery always seems poor enough on this saw when using a 24 inch bar is this normal.

HI MATE can you not open up oil chain pump to max on the 24"bar thanks jon

Hi Jon I have that done usually run a 20 inch bar just on a 24 it seems poor, I have cleaned the tank and run paraffin oil through it.

HI MATE theres chaps on here running 24" bars ok im running 20" bar on a 461 oil pump full open i will run a 660 on a 25" but thats just me thanks jon

Ok so I went using saw again today and it cut out 4 times in about 5 minutes.I have rechecked coil gap and all wiring getting a bit frustrated now so any suggestions welcome.
