Would you hire out your GRCS

200 for a few thousand pounds worth of kit and an experienced guy sounds reasonable, some people wont pay that for a man and chipper

Oh yes and I hire mine out at times to certain people ,certainly would not let anyone have it

I thought that, a decent subbie rigger is worth £100 and only charging £100 out for the gear is dirt cheap if your paying tax as well ?.

 

Wow Essex is a cheap place to live, I'm considerably more than that and come with just a climbing kit and topper. If I had my own GRCS I'd charge £200 but not have half the kit this smart winch guy has.

 

I imagine his value is due to the promoting the smart winch product..

I Just putting feelers out to see what a fair rate to charge is, I will only be letting company's we are friends with use it.

 

The problem with Essex is to many cutters which lowers what they can charge.

I wouldn't hire it out Terry, I knew a freelance climber who had one and someone drove a landrover over it!

 

I've used these before and they are great, I've been rigging for 20 years and got by without one (and as you know, I do lots of big dismantles). I would say, if your going to hire out rigging kit, you'd have to be a freelancer...and you'll make more money with your own trainset than as a hired-gun anyday.

It's the same story every where. More than half the companies round here will not pay my rate.

The GRCS is not some super tool that will make the impossible possible, it just opens up other ways of tackling the job a standard bollard will not. So depends if someone wants to pay that premium, it also takes time to learn how to use one effectively from experience I've seen things to badly wrong through poor plannig and asking to much from it.

didn't mean to have mislead anyone but its £200+vat + travel expense, didn't realize travel was extra boss said 2day, mikes local to us though so was SFA
