I still reckon it seems quite low as it's not like it's on it's knees with that sort of weight.

Do you ever get it out on normal roads? If it was still really low on normal roads then maybe there's some underlying problem?

Out of curiosity, is it still running the tiny standard wheels and tyres (205/16)? That does make them very low geared - Mines on 265/75 and I swapped the speedo drive to the right one to suit the bigger tyres.

Sometimes get out on normal roads but even on a trip towing up the dual carriageway only got around 20mpg

Tyres are BFG ATs so 265s I think.

hi woodworks, what engine is in the 90? I had an old h-reg hi cap with the 2.5td 'thirsty-slug' engine, it was abominable on fuel, the 200tdi one i'm currently running is so much better.

2.5 tdi

The little lanes we have around us make for very poor economy. Constant gear changes, stopping and starting every time you meet a car. I don't even want to think what my 300tdi does, but recently been towing 3.5ton around and Im sure it seems to be better fuel economy in low range.

Take it for a spin on the a38 sometime and see what its like then but I'd say 17 doesn't sound bad towing in the lanes to be honest.

Thanks all

Looks like I have to just take the economy on the chin. On the upside sounds like there is nothing wrong with our landy and Matt before you ask no you can't have it :001_tt2:

If it's on bigger wheels but still on the same speedo drive, it might be underreading on the speedo - making it seem worse than it is?
