Steve, I'm interested in this but never really done diets, where do I start???? What sort of foods are you eating on a daily basis?

Its really not a diet as such...you can eat as much as you want. You just have to cut out all sugar(as much as realistically possible anyway), grains, dairy.

So basically anything in the first 2 aisles of tescos is good, everything else avoid. Fresh veggies, meats, fruit, nuts and seeds, coconut milk instead of milk. Theres more exhaustive lists of course but thats about the jist of it.

Tomorrrow for work I will be taking a tupperware full of spinnach, couple of tomatoes, bit of beetroot and some smoked mackerel. Also an apple, avocado, big box of mixed nuts and seeds that I will munch on as I feel like it....bag of beef jerky in case I get hungry...and plenty of water.

Right so basically no bread, processed foods or dairy. Don't do a lot of dairy anyway and love nuts and fish etc so will give it a go.

Is it purely about weight loss or do you have more energy ? Doing a physical job I would of thought loads of carbs and protein would be the way too go.

for me its all about the energy. protein and fats give you the energy...carbs just slow you down. raw eggs in my smoothy in the morning provide the fats to start with, or if i have time maybe a bit of bacon. I have way more energy on this diet

Just so you know, the first week you will feel quite lethargic as your body adjust, but stick with it beyond that and you'll honestly be amazed at how much extra energy you have. You might even find it improves other aspects of your health at the same time

To be honest at the moment I feel "bogged down" and low on energy so it will be an improvement. What about meat? Can you eat plenty?

Yep meats fine!

Strictly speaking, Paleo suggests grass fed meat. It isn't always possible, and its more expensive, but to be honest the taste difference is amazing if you can find grass fed beef
