Having had 3 landies with a winch on each i would truly advise phoning david bowyer at superwinch, great guy and knows his stuff.

also good at fixing them when you get too keen!

i run 2 batteries and a split charge kit inbetween so when winching you dont hurt starting battery, made mistake first time and had single battery, cue a call to a mate for a jump start.

That's who I got mine off, very knowledgable guy.

My fabricator mate made a concealed winch mount for his isuzu using a winch tray designed for a td5 discovery, looked realy good, very strong. Id defiantly try getting a quote or two from local metal workers. As for winches id look at winchmax (the orange ones) or yeti winches, both on ebay, or for a bit more superwinch or goodwinch, or for a lot more warn! Im not that impressed by the tmax or britpart ones though.

Mate of mine did all sorts to his disco, bigger wheels, suspension lift etc etc, insurance company didn't bat an eyelid. He put a winch on and they refused to insure him!

Worked out OK in the end, he went to a special list insurer and ended up paying less.
