Cheers for the help guys!

I like the look of those AS motor mowers, I found this one which is a pretty similar idea to the victa:

AS-Motor AS 53 B6 RB | PSD Grounds Care Ltd

What do you guys think?

I've never heard of these mowers before so am a bit hesitant to buy one until i find out a bit more about them.

The john deer looks quite good as well, but am leaning towards the AS Motor as its two stroke. Any one using one of the john deer mowers either?

Would be nice to know peoples thoughts on them before i buy.

Thanks again, James.

I've also found this little honda as well:

Key features | HRS536SD | Lawnmowers | Lawn & Garden | Honda (UK)

Anyone used one of those either?

I've used quite a few ride ons and walk behinds including As , but IMO

Etesia av 51 with Kawasaki engine the best , goes through v long wet grass, bracken, scrub and just about everything else, also got diff lock an rev . More of a rough cut mower but still leave a decent cut .

emphasis on "for the money"

Which is exactly why I used those words.

Many posts made on this sort of thread say " this is the best" or "that is the best" without taking into consideration the relative quality and cost.

In my opinion, it is difficult to spend £700 more wisely than spending it on a JD JS63V for the type of work mentioned. I have sold many of these, over the last 12years, for use in arduous conditions and all the purchasers are very pleased.

But if you were to ask me what is the best machine for this work, then I would say " the JD C52KS " but then add that it is around £1300.

These suggestions are made as alternative mowers to the Victa.

The heavy duty, out front, mowers such as the Ariens in the vid, or the DR version are excellent, but in a different league altogether. That said, it could be that they are more suited to the demands of the OP.

I really like the look of these mowers but at about 3k new its a bit out of my price range!

To be honest i'm looking to spend around the 1.5k mark. I want something reliable that will be able to cut long grass (up to a good 10" at least). And will do it even in the wet, and be able to spread the grass well to mulch down.

So at the moment there are three mowers that are in my price range that people have suggested:

The little honda:

Honda HRS536SD - Mulching Lawn Mower from Mowers UK

The John deere:

JohnDeere C52KS Commercial Walk Behind Mowers

And the AS Motor mowers:

AS-Motor AS 53 B6 RB | PSD Grounds Care Ltd

So anyone got any opinions on those? any experience with them?

I do like the etesia attila 51 so may even look into a second hand one of those.

I trialled a range of As for the local stihl dealer wasn't over impressed but then I was comparing them to the aforementioned Etesia. Out of the other two I'm with gardenkit on the john Deere , before you buy see if you can get a test drive or hire em out , if you want to try my av51 I'm nr reading mate .

Cheers for the offer, i may take you up on that sometime if i don't get something sorted out before the season starts.

I'm in Basingstoke Hampshire. My local dealer won't let me take any out for a test run which is anoying! Where abouts did you trial the AS Motors? If its not that far from me it may be worth me going there.

Cheers, James
