Been looking at getting a small saw to do a bit of carving with not looking to spend much. Seen a stihl 010av spares or repairs on ebay just wondering if anyone has used one in the past or still does and what you think of the saw for carving with? Also would a 12" stihl carving bar fit on one?

Hi mate,

I've done a bit of carving with one a while back. It's a great little saw but found it a bit vibey on my trigger finger after a full day carving.

You can fit a carving bar on no problem, but you'll need to swap the sprocket for a 1/4 one rather than the standard.

Best to speak with RobD on here at Chainsawbars, if memory serves correct the carving chain needed to be a link or two shorter.

12" bar will fit easily, as will smaller. As for spares and repairs, if it's engine problems, leave it well alone, the big end falls apart when the cylinder is removed
