hi guys looks like 40 aint to old makes me feel a little better  but let me add a little twist to my first question would anyone take a 40yr old guy on with basic chainsaw skills and very little experience but the willingness to learn and gain skills or is it better to get as many qualifications as you can before looking for a job :confused1::confused1::confused1:

Ted i was in a similar position to yourself around 2 years since. I now have tickets but what you will undoubtedly find is most guys only want/need a brash dragger. The people in this business who will help you with your climbing/cutting are thin on the ground.

Good luck tho and all the best!

This has really inspired me to get climbing again . I'm 42 and have lost my fitness and piled the weight on since I had meningitis few years ago . So here goes I'm going to be climbing again this year - there put it in words so no going back !

I'd rather have a 40 yo who turned up on time and didn't take sickies than a 20 yo who thinks its ok to just not turn up some days.

Ditto. And they can drive 7.5t trucks as well - big bonus for some companies.
