I was thinking a getting myself a wire core flip line to use mainly as a lanyard to give me extra safety when cutting.

To keep cost down is it acceptable to use it with a prusik or equivalent friction hitch and basic pulley rather than splash out on a rope grab?

Cheers

Merry Christmas everyone!

I wouldn't count on that, a chainsaw will go through wire core, a little slower than it would rope, but it will go through.

Yes, wire core is for aiding flipping it up a stem, not for protecting it against a cut.

Rope grab's aren't as good as a mini VT knot and micro pulley - you can adjust this setup under load unlike the grab.

Thanks for your replies.

Not sure if it's worth investing in a wire core flip line now, as I'm not on spikes yet.

Any other advantages of using one as a lanyard instead of my rope one?
