Any one else see Grand Designs last nite?

For thoes unfortunate enough not to have seen it, they were doing a rebuild of a fire gutted old thatched cottage. They had to completely redo the roof, which meant new oak beams throughout. Exposed new beams in the walls as well.

It was wonderful to see the craftsmanship involved and the end result was beautiful. It was good to see British products and labour used to combine practicality and aesthetics so well.

I'd love to see a Grand Designs episode where, instead of getting hugely in debt and spend a zillion pounds on some self-indulgent pile, the couple on the show have a very limited budget and build a modular, timber frame house to a high standard in a few months an live happily ever after with a small mortgage.

I guess that might not make very good telly, though.

OK, to make it interesting, at some point the wife has to get found out having it off with the cameraman.

Voila! Gripping TV.
