Problem with tail lights on transit tipper

or the fuse is the wrong type or is to high and instead of fuse blowing its cooking the fuse board.

Bad earth....

 

Its not a bad earth that would make the fuse less likely to blow.

 

Hot and smokey wiring means a direct short which is in effect too good an earth

Right well I changed the fuse earlier, everything seemed ok all lights worked as they should....... For about 5 mins, I started the truck and left it running for while and then noticed smoke coming out of the dash, I quickly turned the lights and engine off and pulled out the new fuse. Now I'm really stuck I've got no idea what to look for, what would cause it to start getting hot and smoke?

Yep it's all getting way too complicated for me and my very limited electrical knowledge now, I have booked it in with an auto electrician next tues. Hoping it's not going to be too much money, the trucks been a bit of a money pit lately!
