So do I shove the prongs right in or not?!!!!!!!!

MARK i have a stihl moisture meter and only push mine in enough not to damage the prongs/meter as the prongs are mounted into a plastic housing so would,nt advise pushing all the way in i would go for as far as you think resistance wise as it all depends on what wood etc and also split a lump of wood then test in the middle not the ends of the log for a true reading

I posted this recently on another thread.

I've got the Stihl one and dropped a Western Red Cedar the other day. As it hit the floor the lowest 4' section measured 18% top end and 21% base

The Ash in the yard from March is also 20%, at £15 i guess you get what you pay for.

I personally don't trust it.

Regards,

Steve.

Yes but not too hard or it will damage the meter especially on oak. Always split the log fresh and measure the inside face. I also measure round the out side then get some idea of the difference can measure the outside of other logs in the same stack if needed. If you stick it in the end grain and it says 30% you dont need to split it you know its going to be gopping in the middle. Very useful for testing part seasoned cord to see how far on it is.

Mark, did your dealer not give you detailed instructions when undertaking the stihl hand-over policy?!!

Hahahahahahahaha!

I was fully instructed, but it was too much to take in after listening to the instructions on how to safely use my chainsaw man key ring.

Thanks for all your input as usual fellas.
