I've been a solid axe man until now. Decided as I was upping my volumes that I needed some mechanical help. I searched lots of info on here about splitters and processors. Most importantly I did sums.

To be blunt I want profit. My trees aren't straight so processors were out. Splitters capable of making billets are too expensive to invest in as well. My road to profit will be by a modest investment in a hydraulic splitter for my old Ford, allowing time for logs to season and by charging sensibly.

Here's the splitter that ticked the boxes. Went to workshop before buying. I like British engineering, I like the builder and the 3 year guarantee.

Made light work of a three year old beech block that has defeated me for years. This block has reached mythical status amongst my friends and served well as a chopping block.

Lots of felling to get into and a forecast of a cold snap to firm the ground. Excellent!

Good to read a 'happy' story but please sort the height of that deck; your back has a death sentence on it if you don't.

Aye. Hadn't adjusted the top link correctly for a higher level!

haha, plastic wrapping not even off and its straight into action getting even with all those pigs you broke your heart trying to smash. Have to admit, it was also the first thing I did when me and the old man made the transition from maul to hydraulic's. All those pig elm, beech and oak blocks fashioning old axe, and maul wounds in the back of the shed got it!!!

Here is my yoke on the case with beech

What were you sniffing at 3.55? You didn't answer the question :laugh1: That's a really useful looking machine.

A funky knot to keep me going, I love the smell of freshly split beech :thumbup1:
