husky 371 no start

running fine, put saw down on tickover, revved itself up very slightly then stopped, now wont start, changed plug,checked air filter,tons of compression,what next to check

Sounds like it ran short of fuel.

 

Check fuel filter and pipe, also check tank breather.

Fuel line perished ? Split as you put it down some air went in to lean it out slightly ( rise in revs ) now it wont suck fuel through ...possibly ??

A running enqine needs compression, spark and fuel. Sounds like compression is OK so pull it over a bit and see if the plug is wet and also check the spark but keep it away from the plug hole as you can get some great flames out of the plug hole if it is blowing vapour.

 

Once you know which bit isn't there then it could be a multitude of things but you have to start somewhere.
