Hay all just a bit of info required. I've been offered a stihl 088, and I was wondering if this is a good saw to invest in or would it be best to spend the extra cash and buy a ms 880 .

If the 088 is a good investment what size bars and chains are good to work with.

The 088, all be it the same size, is a bit bigger cc wise, it also is unrestricted to the 880 as it didn't come into the emissions restrictions that the 880 had when it was made so it has more grunt to it.
