Hey all,

I'm toying with a few ideas and doing a bit of research. I currently do logs on a very small scale but wish to expand. I have the timber available and it is my intention to split and process logs into 1m3 bags and sell these in bulk rather than to individual customers. The timber would be mostly unseasoned or partially seasoned and would consist of ash, sycamore cherry and beech or whatever the customer demanded.

I am based in the Sheffield area, I was wondering what I could realistically expect to charge and is there a market for it in the first place?

I struggl to get £100 a cube in Warwickshire but a good cold spell a lot of log suppliers sell out. You then find people are prepared to pay for quality seasoned logs. I always get plenty of messers at the start of winter " I will ask my wife and get back to you" we all know that chestnut!!

Are there any firewood suppliers out there, that would be willing to buy their logs already split in m3 bags?

Yes but all depends on cost, there has to be "enough fat on the bone to make a profit".

Ah!

What diminsions are your proposed m3 bags.

Mostly m3 bags as quoted arnt.

An ducks.

PS

Interested since i am toying with selling strapped 0.5m3 bundles of billets to the "I wanna play with my B&Q chainsaw" bridgade.

cheers

Always a comedian around! The bags hold a m3 as stated! Not builders or dumpy bags! I currently sell my timber by the ton straight from site but wish to expand into firewood market! I have the potential for 500 ton minimum as split logs per year!
