Just had a tilt bucket fitted to my JCB 8080 and had a play this evening. What an amazing bit of kit. Speeds the job up two fold and does a much better job than a normal grading bucket. I just wish I had got it years ago !

That's fantastic. I keep telling people that in this day and age a Tilt Bucket should be standard issue considering their competitive price, why move the machine when you simply move the bucket.

What make is that one?

No going back now, and a very slippery slope to getting one that rotates as well!

The Menzi 515 in Earthmovers is the ultimate without question, but try justify paying the same as three 13 tonne machines for it, unless your application is ultra specialised?

I'd have one tomorrow if I could make it pay.:thumbup1:

Thanks Eddie - I called your mate but he couldn't supply the Geith quick enough so I went for a double rammed version from Bucket Warehouse, looks really well built and for the cost, as you say its an absolute no brainer. This is going to save me hundreds of hours. Anyone who uses a 360 should buy one I promise you, you wont go back. For my application and use I couldn't justify a tilt rotator but you don't have to sell me on the benefit, it would be huge

looks good, I notice some places are selling the 'scandinavian' style tilting grader. Are these better than the standard for general landscaping tasks and are you still able to ditch with them due to the different profile overv a standard ditching bucket?

I ummend and arghhed about this. I liked the longer flat profile for grading work but ditching work is a big part of the machines use so I decided to play safe and order a std version bucket. Eddie is probably your man for this question..........

I really think it's a case of sitting down and thinking what you really want from a bucket?

The Scandinavian style Bucket is something you would use as an all rounder, much like a genuine shaped grading bucket you see hanging from a Tiltrotator, and will be great for handling material, loading dumpers etc etc.

When it comes to actual grading, the more conventional tilt bucket will win hands down, by simply being wider and requiring much less passes to achieve the same. It's geometry will be easier to grade with, but you could argue you gain a bit of reach with the other type.

Whatever you choose you're simply on a winner!:thumb up:

A good video of the Scandinavian style here, but you will quickly appreciate every pull will leave two nice windrows you're going to be tidying up spilling around the cutting edge, that aren't that far apart.

Both will cut a V trench, etc etc

A few images of a new conventional Geith one going on the a 16 Tonne Volvo, and a bit of it working.

A work of art- i,d prefer a picture of that hanging on my wall than Monet! Okay, I'm going to buy myself a tilter on Monday (before the tax year ends:thumbup1:). Couple of questions if you mind- Eddie or anyone else wh uses them.

1) Its to go on a 3 ton machine- Is it preferable to have one with the twin rams over a single ram.

I will probably just go for the conventional style as i think that will suit my needs fine- I didn't realise the scandinavian ones were narrower- thats kind of put me off a bit.

Any makes in preferance/ orto avoid- I realise Geith always get good press but don't want to wait ages for it either...

Cheers.

You get that Tilt Bucket and paint your own!

Single ram is plenty on a 3 tonne, I suppose it's the usual case of get what you pay for, but plenty to choose from.

Nothing really to look out for apart from asking if any of the pivots have replaceable bushes, as obviously this can make keeping everything in top condition a lot easier and cheaper.

Thanks.

Bucket warehouses scandinavian bucket appears to be the same width as the normal style for a 3 tonner, perhaps it gets narrower as they get onto bigger sizes. Also I would have thought the conventional one is going to be better for ditch cleaning, that said- I,m quite happy with just a non tilting one for ditch cleaning as the blade provides sufficient adjustment in most cases, so perhaps Id be better getting the scandinavian one- I hate desicions.:laugh1:
