Shooting Advice

Tried that first Jon. They have been totally blaze and can't seem to understand my position. This is the 2nd time it's happened mind. First time I was home on my own, this time, my little princess was in line of fire and that'll bring me out swinging every time. I've kept my enquiries with plod/BASC/HSE 'informal' at this stage in the interests of maintaining good neighbourly relations but if it ever happens again I want to know exactly where to take it. They were shooting TOWARDS my house from within 200m. That's just damn stupid and unsafe but they thought I was being unreasonable. I can't say it, but returning one back down the bearing would probably highlight the stupidly of their actions but that would lower me to their standard which I can't allow.

If they were as long as they were 50metres away there's not really a lot you can do. Direction of wind maybe to blame more than direction of shot.

They can be sanctioned by BASC for unsafe procedures, potentially receive a warning letter (first instance) (and potentially become the focus of attention) from the firearms licensing dept of the constabulary, and be investigated by HSE (breach of agricultural information sheet No. 43). All of which would be the type of attention that only ever ends in hassle that could simply be avoided. I'm a shooter & stalker myself, can you imagine the hassle if they were shooting into a bunny huggers garden?

Is it life threatening?Or could it injure anyone?

To keep it in perspective (which I've been struggling to do - threat to my child = I'll come out fighting like a mongoose with hangover), it would be unlikely that serious injury would be caused by falling shot. However, if you were looking up and spent shot caught you in the face (you'll have someone's eye out with that - tongue in cheek) there is the potential for injury. What would you do, wait until your child was blinded before complaining? Heaven forbid if it DID cause injury, I'd make the Texas chainsaw massacre look like a flower arranging class in comparison! As an aside, I was in Saddam's palace the night Iraq won a football match in the 2004 Olympics, it was like the entire population were loosing off AKs into the air, one round came back to earth, through the container roof and embedded in the floor of our accommodation (40ft ISO container)
