Yep, it is heavy to move around on your own. Awesome bit of kit though. I thought petro engine splitters were slow and underpowered but this thing is chewing through loads of stuff we haven't been able to split atspeed. Had 20 mins doing 1m billets with the 4 way head. Genius. I hadn't assumed that mine would come with the arms to hold the split billets. Really useful. Great bit of kit and well designed/ built. The leader system is genius with billets.

Its a bit crude looking but does the job fine. The 1x1 box steel sections attached to the back of the main post, create a spacer between the main mast on the splitter and it, thus allowing the blade to come all the way to the base of spltting table. I use a thick piece of 14mm plywood bolted down onto the top plate, so its not metal on metal, it also provides wings either side to place pre-split logs, hand sappie, etc.

Your table is pretty much the same as thor's design and there's is over priced nice job.

I think a lot of people run the engine at low revs it should be run at the top end to be as quick as a pto job. Mine uses around £7.50 over 10hours.

Cheers dude, yeah i was quoted 300 quid i think for the 'real deal' - feck that. I note there are two grooved out slots on the base of the log spltter. Presumably the 'real deal' log table has accompanying bits that slot into these to stop the base post twisting and moving whilst under load?

I worked around this issue with a short ratchet strap.
