Windblown Turkey Oak

I personaly thought it made excellent firewood, so did some people who I gave it to try however it rots really quickly, I have some here from nearly 2 years ago that we have been splitting this week and it is already rotting.

I read somewhere but can't find it now where a miller said it used to be called "beer barrell wood"

 

Yes it's high moisture content and no durable heartwood. It was milled (presumably quarter sawn) and used internally as wainscot oak.
