I believe the highest number of deaths from falls is off the back of wagon's, less than 8'.

It was quite tricky but only because it was hard to get the spikes into 2 - 3" stems.

 

Could do with someone inventing a set of climbing irons with a row of 5 or 6 small spikes for just that type of job. Young ash seems to be rock hard and you have to hit dead centre of the stem to get them to bite.

 

I've often thought it would be good if someone came up with a set of spikes that clamp on to the front of your boots... Can get uncomfortable on the feet when you spend a long time with weight on your irons.

 

Had thought of and tried using crapons once, but they werent quite right for the job.
