Kwik chip 160 overheating problems?

As the title says got a kwik chip 160 and have heard these chippers have problems overheating?

 

Just wondering if anyone has had same problems and solved it?

never used one but blocked radiator?? or thermostat problem??

Our one did once in the height of summer. It was a blocked rad that was the problem. Blow it all out with an airline and no problems since.

Rad isn't blocked going to do thermostat an waterpump soon as I can find the parts it's a perkins 103-10 engine

I had one years ago and it constantly over heated. So much so I drilled large holes about 2inch diameter with a hole saw in the sides of the cowling and fitted a fine mesh behind them. Not pretty but it did work.

Put the thermostat in hot water and make sure it opens ok. If it doesnt its faulty obviously. If you get stuck and need the machine, run it without the stat fitted.

I have kwick chip 160,

Bloody good tool,

As far as I know they suffer from three problems,

 

1 overheating

2 electrical problems

3 axel weakness

 

Mines had the problems solved by the following,

1 overheating, solved by cleaning rad/ water pump and flushing rad/engine through , fitting a new exhaust ( the old one was blowing causing hot air to stay in under the hood)

The exhaust was fitted, and wrapped in heat Sheild wrap to keep the heat in the exhaust,

 

2 electrical problems, I've had the no stress bypassed on mine so it's just controlled by the bar,

 

3 axel problems,

Luckily mines has a new 2" box axel before I picked it up but nice just fitted new indi spension units, and new wheels/ tyres,

Thanks for the help! Has it not done the head gasket from overheating? Not sure whether to do a head gasket on it just incase? What exhaust have u put on it? Cheers

Hi mate it was one from a local tyre depo took it out the scrap bin for free,

I believe it's a Peugeot exhaust mate,

Do you need a few pics?
