Long shot I know but does anyone have or know where I can get an intake manifold to cylinder head gasket for a 1978 075? Mine is goosed and I've tried ordering a couple of gasket sets but none seem to have the correct intake gasket.

Clean it up and use Hermetite or Loctite Instant Gasket. Make a paper one as above, smear some oil round the join and press your paper on it to get the shape then run a drill bit through the holes just twisting it between your fingers.

make one with gasket paper

Done this many times, keep a number of thicknesses of gasket paper in the workshop - punch the smaller holes with a hand punch and cut the shape with a scalpel.

Still available from stihl I believe and not expensive. Gaskets kits prob supply the 051 gasket as its the most common model of the 2, all other gaskets are interchangeable.. If you haven't got an IPL I will check it when I get home and look up the part number.

1111 129 1401 is the stihl part number.

Still available from stihl around 50p each (theres one each side of the plate/guard)

P.s I don't think it would be a 1978 if its an 075? I believe the changeover year from 075 to the 076 was 1977.

Cheers wisecobandit, I'll try my dealer tomorrow I've had mixed luck trying to order parts for this saw from dealers before.

Otherwise I was going to make one but it's a very thick gasket, about double thickness of a cereal box.

I've never seen any date stamps on one? Just take that part number in with you to the dealer and tell them to order it. They are still available just half the dealers just can't be bothered to look it up being an old saw, I love them and prob rebuilt a dozen. Get any problems let me know. Spec is 0.5mm thick gasket altho thickness wise it won't really matter but If you make one use proper gasket paper as a cereal packet gasket wont last long it will burn up there.
