Nah-absolutely false- aluminium work-hardens ie-gets stiffer but more brittle. Try it with a peice of ally sheet, bash it with a hammer repeatedly-itll get stiffer n snap.

That's not true, friend of mine makes body work for classic cars out of aluminum sheeting , mainly Bentleys and I was watching them last week making a door by repeatedly hammering the edge of the sheet to minimize the door gap in the body work.

Yup, and I'll wager that periodically he re-annealed the sheet to keep it malleable.

 

Either that or he's using a very fancy alloy.

Yea- well you have to do that to them cheap cars, He shud have got a landy.....
