Rope Runner

Recommended Posts

It does look good doesn't it! Will be good to hear how people get on with it.

I wonder if you can use it in drt too like you can the HH!?

I wondered the same Ger. But then I ascended a Cedar today, DdRT style and then found that it was actually easier to throw my rope as usual but instead of clipping it back to the bridge, I just chocked it up to the branch and ascended SRT style.

So it was exactly the same process, throw rope, ascend to it, lanyard in, throw rope, ascend to it, etc etc.

The thing that stood out for me was that it was slower to try it DdRT style and more work.

Having said that, I'm on a HH which was designed for SRWP.

To prove the point to myself I then tried a little work DdRT and oh my, it was awfully hard work and slow. I just can't do it that way any more, I guess the retraining is now complete!

I'm starting to go that way a bit more Al but still find I'm branch walking a lot. A few weeks ago I had to take down an awkward sycamore with it blowing a gale and chucking it down. My first thought was, I'll do this drt because that's what I'm used to, but after about two minutes I thought 'sod this', and changed to srt, far less hard work!

I like the fact the RR is easily midline attachable, will make setting a tip with 60m of rope far quicker, the way I do it anyway haha!
