Walk behind flail type mower.

Brambles, if that is all there is, are surprisingly "boast", i.e. a carpet forming a surface, over a whole lot of thin air.

Leastwise here in Co Antrim they are.

I waded into an absolute thicket last weekend whilst picking blackberries, once I broke through the "crust", there was little below, and I was able to easily tramp them down as I picked "out of a face"

Armed with Lowa boots at one end and a done Ackubra hat at the other.

With jeans and tee shirt in-between.

very deceptive.

Small area like this the mulcher blade on a brushcutter, cut down NOT side to side and you end up with mulched 3 inch sections. I've done several acres in my wood and you can even cut the roots out that way so they barely come back.

Use the Stihl mulcher not the others as the quality is much better.

Thanks for all the tips on brambles....Saw a flail mower on e bay, contacted Tracmaster who took the trouble to look on line and tell me it wouldnt fit my unit.

Seems a Stihl mulching head would be best............

................Gonna need a bigger Brushcutter!

The stihl brushknife (tri blade) might fit on your machine. Not as good as a mulching blade but I manage good results by using a combination of the swatting method and sweeping through the stems.

This would be a low cost alternative and for this size of area IMHO would be the simplest solution to your problem.

But if you need a bigger machine, as the mulching blades require, then go for it. Can't beat shiny new powerful machines !!
