Recommendations near Cromer

Fakenham Market and Auction on Thursday is worth a punt, Holt is a decent place to visit and there is an interesting brickabrack/antiques shop down a back lane on the left facing west off the high street:thumbup:

 

Blickling - never been there but looks fantastic.

 

Letheringsett Mill near Holt is a very interesting visit, the guy who owns it is ex army and a fanatic - does an interesting tour - very informative.

 

Cromer Museum and a trot up the church tower

 

Kings Lynn is a good place to go as well

 

Not got any places to eat - I usually stay further south near Seapalling

 

The Lord Nelson in Burnahm Thorpe did good food many years ago and also Holkham Hall is worth a visit as is Felbrig hall.

The seals are definitely on the list.

 

If you do the seals, consider a sail out on an oyster to see them rather than the tourist bus/boat

Sailing out on an oyster looks great David - we saw them but didn't realise they weren't all private. Wouldn't work for us with two small children, but ideal without. The tourist boat is OK though, and does mean you can put off at the point.

 

In Norfolk terms it's quite a way from Cromer to Wells, so personally I wouldn't bother going any further along than that - we've never run out of things to see or do in a week from that end. It's a lot easier to go another time and stay somewhere like Old Hunstanton (stunning beach) to visit Holkham, Sandringham, Hunstanton sealife centre and Castle Rising (another really good place to go) etc.

My two are 8 & 10 and first time sailers, you can charter the Oysters with a skipper as well and still put off at the point.

4 and 2 at the moment. If they are enjoying something they will concentrate for hours, but they're not old enough yet that if they take exception at the idea they will still go with it and give it a try. Give it a few years and it looks ideal.
