I'm looking for a supply of cordwood to North/West Devon for my own use. I'm planning a year or two in advance and would like to process the timber myself for the health benefit!

If you're able to deliver up to about 10 tons for a reasonable price I could be interested.

Thanks.

mixed hardwood 42 + vat

sweet chestnut 30 +vat

both roadside

Hardwood is obviously creeping up down here then because we're still selling at £40/t roadside + vat; that chestnut price tho is low; £35 here.

By cordwood I take it you mean roundwood? Dunno where this term "cordwood" has come from! Some made up term from the arb world ? :confused1:

Anyway, you after hard or soft? We are in s/w devon; 8 wheeler (17t) or artic available (~26t)

Sorry I knew it's proper application, not why roundwood has been termed cordwood. The 4' thing is all I know of "cord":thumbup:

Folks are constantly referring to cordwood at roadside, cordwood rates, cordwood lorry loads; they mean roundwood!

Hi TimberCutterDartmoor,

Sorry about the terminology and thanks for the education - I'm new to this Arb world and haven't needed to buy in any wood for the last few years.

You're right - I mean roundwood. I want timber that has been felled but not cut, split and seasoned - I can do that bit myself. A mix of hard and soft is OK (as long as the soft is not a pine that will give a continuous firework display) up to about 15" diameter (or I'll have to upgrade the chainsaw).

An 8 wheeler should be plenty big enough - an artic will struggle to get down our lane.

Cheers.

Snot your fault mate; everyone on here calls it cordwood! I don't want to be a jobsworth but fed up with "cordwood" now
