bats in trees

How do we decide if a tree needs a bat inspection? Is it only when someone mentions the word bat?

good look from the ground to identify any potential habitat if there is some thenclimb up and inspect it. if a bat can get in look for crap etc if there is no sign and you can see right in and make sure no bats are there. otherwise its up with an endo scope. a bat can fit in a match box so if there is a hole you could fit your finger in a bat could get in.

Sort of, you need to familiarise your self with the kind of tree defects,etc, that could be of use to a bat and if the tree has any check them out.

I was under the impression that if I thought that there may be bats present I could not inspect the tree unless I was a trained bat handler otherwise I could be fined etc.

could someone post some pics of where you would expect to find bats, i can only think of a big hollow dead elm or the likes. are they hiding in healthy trees in gardens?i have never seen one in or around a tree,

thats unworkable you are not knowingly allowed to disturb a bat roost as you say but first you have to know its there

 

if you find evidence of bats then you should come away and get advice from a bat guy
